Inspiration Station

Good evening,

Well, this is sort of out of order, except for the fact I actually did write my first post back in February but it sat as a draft until a couple days ago.

My inspiration for a home decor blog came from one, my love of interior decorating, and two, the fact I couldn't find a dwelling with architecture and interior fixtures I liked in Topeka. I figured I had to get creative in making a place look decent.

I will go over a multitude of things from inexpensive fixes to jazz up a rental, organization tips, DIY crafts that are actually manageable (I'm not a crazy Pinterest freak. In fact, I am REALLY bad at following directions so anything I post will be EASY to make :), and where to buy the best priced home goods. Gents, don't put off reading this blog because you don't care how your home looks. I seem to inspire my guy friends to make their pads look better!

If you have any problems areas in your home or dorm let me know and I will see what advice I might be able to offer. My first semester at K-State I'm pretty sure I rearranged my dorm room AT LEAST once a month...if not every two weeks and I was the queen fort builder with the lobby furniture... okay, maybe that only happened once. But I don't know many people who were brave enough to build a fort  in the lobby.

    I'm excited to see what kind of DIY crafts you post. I am a sucker for Pinterest and love looking at all of the crafts that can be made. I love decorating, so hopefully I will be inspired by all of your projects!

    I love DIY ideas, its amazing the ideas that people come up with! I'm all for saving money as well but I find myself getting into a rut when it comes to decorating ideas and trying to save space in my apartment.

Well, this is it. Post number 10. The final post for my media class. Got it at Goodwill

I am a huge fan of thrift stores. Mainly because they are cheap and if you check often enough you can find some neat stuff. Not only that, but thrift stores are much more prevalent in Kansas than IKEA. Here are my latest finds... I kinda like this piece because it's jazzy and unique. All the people are headless. I will admit most of the artwork at thrift stores should have been left in the 90s but this piece stood out to me. And it was only $5.99 at Goodwill.  This little beauty is pretty neat. It has 3 leaves that turn down so you can make the table fit in your space better. It's solid wood and it was a bargain at only $12.99 at Goodwill. Organization Station #1

So, I have still been working away organizing and cleaning up my apartment. Being a direct descent from a packrat, organization is very important. Last night I finally got all my craft supplies sorted and off my kitchen table. I went from having a cluttered "hardware box" to having my tools separated into their own drawer and all of those random screws and stuff have their own little boxes. I don't know about you but I seem to accumulate jewelry boxes. I hate to throw them away, but I don't store my jewelry in them and they become a nuisance lying around. Until I repurposed them into hardware holders. Photo by C. Scharton Tah-dah! Now I have less empty boxes sitting around. Plastic bags are cheap and can work well to organize but instead of pulling out new bags it was easier just to recycle old boxes. And the boxes hold up much better to sharp metal objects compared to plastic. I put these boxes into a shoe box. Now I know where to find whatever it is I am looking for...
